New pin board from a broken mirror

I work as a department head at a very popular craft store. In fact one or 2 guesses and you would probably get it. Needless to say that makes me very lucky in seeing some of the merchandise that comes in before everyone else does. The lady that takes care of our home accents department gets quite a  bit of stuff that comes in broken. Some she fixes, some she just marks down, and some she throws away. And yes some of it deserves to be thrown away, but I couldn't let this go. So I caught our co-manager, and yes it's mine for the low low price of free!

So the first step was to remove the broken mirror, but not throw it away because I already have plans for the pieces.
Then I picked a nice print from my scraps of fabrics, and layered it with 4 layers of batting.

Then I used the backer of the mirror to cut the shape. I tried gluing the fabric to the backer to hold it in place, but the glue just wouldn't stay. So then I just bent the tabs back into place and trimmed the fabric you could see through the mirror.

Very pretty and will be very handy in my craft room! Not bad for free eh?

Headband experiment

I don't like traditional headbands because they pinch and fight my glasses for real estate behind my ears. I usually end up hearing them squeek agianst each othe and give in before the  day is out. So I tried something that I saw on another site... It has been so long that I don't remember where I saw it... I'm sorry. If you see this and it was your idea please leave me a comment and I will most certainly fix it.
So here it is. I have to say it is pretty cute even tho it is only muslin and white fabrics and a little white tulle. The stretchy part is elastic and completely hidden by my hair. There are no beads, but for my next ones I will definitely embellish further.
What do you think? :) Ok not the best pic, I have to work on that too. lol My model is my 10 year old daughter Heaven. She wants one for herself!
I'm going to also be linking up to my first link party. Flamingo toes here I come! http://www.flamingotoes.com/

I did it!

I finally got my Etsy shop going! I have jumped through all the hoops and cut through the red tape and worked through my procrastination and did it! I will have jewelry, hair accessories, clothing, and what ever else my little heart desires. I only have a few little pieces listed so far, but more is definitely coming. This is the first custom piece I am offering. Isn't it cute? I made it for my friend on her birthday. Amy's little girl's name is Davina, so I stamped her name into a copper tag then wrapped a pearl inside a copper nest. I thought it needed just a little extra bling so I added a crystal in Davina's birthstone color. Adorable if I do say so myself!
If you like it and have to have one for yourself then hop over to my etsy and place an order! www.etsy.com/shop/violetteobsession

Ok I'm new here so go easy on me.

I've decided that I am going to sell jewelry and other items on Etsy, so it might be worth my while to make a blog. I'm a full time mom with a full time gig, but I'm not going to let that stop me. In fact I hope to eventually be able to supplement our income enough to quit my job. We shall see how that goes... lol.

My project of choice is domino jewelry, but I do love to try new things. I especially like to try things that I have seen my fellow crafters come up with. I don't have my Etsy shop up and running at the moment but every day brings me closer.

Well here goes! -Sabrina
